CEPT Novice License?
CEPT Novice License?
Hello,
sorry for writing in English but my Bulgarian is not very good. I got my german class E license (CEPT Novice License) last year so I'm still new to this wonderful hobby. Since I come to Bulgaria almost every year I wanted to operate at least on 2m/70cm here but I found out that the ECC/REC/(05)06 is not implemented in Bulgaria (not allowed to use CEPT Novice License). Does anyone know if there are any plans for implementation (like in most other european countries)? Any other chance for me to operate during holiday in Bulgaria?

Re: CEPT Novice License?
Hello Haiko,
If your CEPT is issued in accordance with recommendation T/R 61-01, you can use it in case your stay in Bulgaria is up to 3 months term.
You just identify yourself as LZ/DO9HC. (art.25)
If the period exceeds the duration mentioned above, you have to apply for LZ call sign based on your German licence. There are couple of documents you have to prepare and translate officially.
Actually nothing is mentioned in the rule's text about 'CEPT-novice' foreign licences. Suppose (but not sure) that 'novice' won't matter.
Success & Enjoy !

Re: CEPT Novice License?
Unfortunately Bulgaria does not seem to implement a CEPT Novice license and a license class that would match it.
Class 1 is equivalent to having the full CEPT and Class 2 is the "national" license that grants 5W on 2m and 70cm.
Have you considered upgrading so you enjoy full CEPT privileges when you travel abroad?

Hi Haiko,
Please look at this.
Is it true than only 12% of radioamateurs in Germany are with klasse E?
According statistics above most of them are with klasse A.

Re: CEPT Novice License?
In general yes. This is current situation, but if you have a look at the new exams there are more class E licensees than class A. And on 2m/70cm you'll find more class E than class A operators. Many countries have already implemented ECC/REC/(05)06.

I made my class A license changing my callsign to DF9HC and hope to operate in Bulgaria this summer.

Re: CEPT Novice License?
Sorry for late reply, I didn't visit the forum for long time. Thank you for the link.
Tomorrow I will fly to Bulgaria, taking my FT-817 and a small HF-P1 antenna with me. I will try some POTA activations.
Currently I'm looking for constraints for the 6m band in LZ, in DL there are some such as "only horizontal polarization", "no portable operation". I can't find anything like that for Bulgaria but I will better not operate on 6m there.
